MESH has been an interesting conference. Aside from being called "The most evil man in the room" by Mike Arrington during the keynote address yesterday the conversations and people have been fantastic. Mike spoke very candidly about his need to sensationalize what he blogs about, I guess he felt it was time to take that to a whole new public forum. His slander was uncalled for, but to each his own. We have some great video of Mike's keynote which we will post on a future episode of RockStartup. I feel a nomination for a Golden Donkey coming on.
I was happy to see Loren Feldmen of 1938 media here. That guy is a no BS barrel of laughs, and always has something to say. From the minute I saw him again I could tell something was different. I asked him why he was beaming and he quickly told me that he had found the women of his dreams. Congrats buddy! If Loren seems too happy in his future videos you now know why : ) We hung out last night at a VIP dinner in the Distillery District...that place is very cool, eh.
My breakfast and lunch conversations were intriguing. Canadians aren't as familiar with PPP as people in the US. After Mike's comments yesterday I found myself explaining the model and trying to set the story straight the best I could. Have you ever sat down with someone you never met and had them say "Hey aren't you that evil guy?" It was funny... the first 10 times. The good thing was everybody knew me. The bad thing was they were wondering what Mike's beef was.
Loren and I just wrapped up an interview where Loren kissed me (on the cheek) for the second time in 24 hours. That guy is too much! True, I kissed Travis on the cheek but that was Vegas and I had just won a ton of money. Loren was completely out of the blue. I guess he is just so happy with his new girl that he is spreading the love around. There is no FTP access here so look for that video on his site later tonight or tomorrow.
UPDATE!!!
Mystery no longer! Well, actually, it's been on our boards for a while...no matter! We're quite pleased to let our posties know that Chris is the lucky blogger that snagged our last HDTV Tuesday Opp! You can read Chris's post here, but don't be too jealous!
And Chris, we couldn't have said it better ourselves,
I just never knew they could bring a man, a tv set, and happiness together so well. What a great quote! Many thanks to PayPerPost for this tremendous HDTV, and also, to Jeff. Whoever you are, you showed Chris the blogging ropes. Now that's a good friend. W00t!

[This is not the original post, but I tried to remember the basics of it! Don't judge!]
As of this morning, the HDTV Opp had been taken by a very patient blogger! The Opp was released just before 5AM EST. Yes, we know who it is- no, we're not sharing!
After a few tweaks have been made to his post, we'll release for all the world [read: you anxious folk who keep coming back here!] to read. :) Patience, patience!
So far I like Toronto. I was amazed at how green the city is when flying overhead. The only thing driving me a little batty is that the sun sets so late and rises so early. I don't sleep very well when it's not dark outside. I'll post a few updates over the coming days.

It's going to be a long night! Why??? Sometime between noon today and noon tomorrow we will be creating an Opportunity that has a brand new Sony 50" Grand WEGA LCD HDTV attached to it. There will only be one Opp and one slot, the first person to grab it gets it.
The last Opp sat out there for over an hour before someone found it. Maybe you can be the lucky person to grab this Opp.
Sorry, U.S. residents only (yes, I know...).
This thing is awesome! It's called "The Police" and it includes 28 classic tracks plus a vintage 1979 foldout concert poster. Look at how young Sting is!

This thing has all them songs you love.
| Disc: 1 1. Fallout 2. Can't Stand Losing You 3. Next to You 4. Roxanne 5. Truth Hits Everybody 6. Hole in My Life 7. So Lonely 8. Message in a Bottle 9. Reggatta de Blanc 10. Bring on the Night 11. Walking on the Moon 12. Don't Stand So Close to Me 13. Driven to Tears 14. Canary in a Coalmine |
Disc: 2 1. Do Do Do de da da Da 2. Voices Inside My Head 3. Invisible Sun 4. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic 5. Spirits in the Material World 6. Demolition Man 7. Every Breath You Take 8. Synchronicity I 9. Wrapped Around Your Finger 10. Walking in Your Footsteps 11. Synchronicity II 12. King of Pain 13. Murder by Numbers 14. Tea in the Sahara |

Here's the deal. In the next few hours we are going to be releasing an Opp that has 200 slots available. 100 of those two hundred Posties will be receiving a Postie Pack that contains The Police 2-disc set as well as some other cool Postie Gear. The Customer Love team will be picking the best posts to receive the Postie Pack so put your heart into it.
These songs are timeless, I know you guys have got to have some good stories! Photos and videos are always encouraged. More cool Opps for the Police coming in the near future!
This Opp is available to U.S. residents only.
They would then fill out their information and do their post and when they clicked SUBMIT it would then inform them in big bold red letters that the opportunity was filled, thus wasting that postie's time.
What was happening is, when an opportunity got down to it's LAST reservation and two posties clicked on it at the same time they BOTH got reservations. Then it was basically a race to whomever got the post in first. The person who clicked submit first would get the opp and the other postie would get the "RLOD".
What we did was fix the reservation system. Before, reservations was just a number and when postie's clicked take that number would just decrement. If it was 0, no more posts could be made. Now the reservations are actual "objects" that are created when the post is created. Think of them as drawers in a dresser. When an opp is created the dresser is built and a number of "empty drawers" are put into place. As posties click "take" they basically claim a drawer as their own and they have 6 hours to fill it. (*Yes you read right, reservation time has been increased from 1 hour to 6 hours*). Once a drawer is claimed, no one else can claim that drawer. So what happens when two posties click "Take" when there's only 1 drawer left? Whoever clicked first claims the drawer and the other postie gets the RLOD, which is as it should be.
Hopefully this helps to clear up any confusion.
Thanks!
Trevor
This HDTV Tuesday is going to be the big one. One lucky blogger will grab an Opp with a Sony 50" Grand WEGA LCD HDTV attached to it. This week it took over one hour for someone to find the Opp for the Super Blu Player...and we are planning on hiding this one just as well. What time will it be released? What will the Opp look like? Only Karen knows....
Here are the confessionals where I ask viewers for questions:

I was inspired to start this little program because of my favorite video podcaster, Cali Lewis. She can be found over at GeekBrief.TV. Her daily podcast is short, entertaining, and informative! Folks around the office make fun of me because I've become slightly addicted to her show, and I won't lie I have a tiny crush on her too! Her enthusiasm is just too contagious! Show her a little love by visiting her site. Thanks to Postie Drew for introducing me to Cali's show.
I hope these new videos will be fun for you. If you have any ideas or suggestions about what to do with my vlog feel free to drop me a comment here, or e-mail me directly at Ashley(at)PayPerPost(dotcom).
