At midnight tonight we will be releasing a new Opportunity for a new Sony Pictures movie called Superbad. This movie is brought to you by the same guy behind Taladega nights (loved it) and 40 Year Old Virgin (loved it even more!).
You can view the official movie site here:
http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/superbad/
This is a really special Opp for a couple of reasons.
1. Its for a cool movie that looks like it is going to be funny as hell.
2. The Opp is only available for 24 hours.
3. The Opp is to help promote the first ever YouTube homepage take over.
We really want to blow it out of the water for this one and we need your help. If you are a fan of this type of comedy and you qualify for this Opp please help us get the word out. Its all about driving traffic to the homepage of YouTube tomorrow. Let's see if we send so much traffic that we crash their servers ; ) This is the first Opportunity from Sony, if it goes well there will be more in the future.
Make sure you tag your post with "superbad"
Here is a cool little widget you can pull from their site.
You can add it to your blog too!
A few weeks ago I was watching CNN's "Reliable Sources" and one of the segments was dedicated to Facebook. What really captured my attention was that Jeff Jarvis (we all know he's been a huge PayPerPost supporter) was a featured speaker, along with Time columnist Ana Marie Cox. Well yesterday I stumbled across the segment on YouTube.com and thought I'd share:
What do you think about all of the attention Facebook's received lately? Do you think it's worth it? And if you're on Facebook you can now add an application to your profile that tells all your Facebook friends about PPP...and you get $15 for every referral (works just like the PPP Affiliate badge).

This is just a little reminder about the super secret Freeze It Opp! Isn't it great to be a part of this awesome new program! We'd like to get lots more samples and products into your hands, but we can't do this alone. If you continue to do quality posts, more Advertisers will come on board wanting to offer product sampling!
We noticed some of you added the Freeze It code to your blog's tags, but haven't completed your post yet. Step two is trying out the samples you received with the original letter. What did you think? Are all your aches and pains at bay? If you haven't already, find the Opp for Freeze It titled, Try it & See! and submit your post. Remember to include a photo, too. Today it's Freeze It gel, who knows what tomorrow will bring!
To talk to other Posties about Freeze It, check out the thread on the boards. If you have any questions regarding this Opp, Try it & See!, please send Customer Love a ticket by clicking on the Contact Support link at the bottom of any page from within your PayPerPost account.
Thanks for your help!
Robb and I are here in "The Windy City" attending the BlogHer event. So far, things have been magnificent, as we have met many current Posties and soon-to-be Posties alike. In addition, we have also engaged a dozen high profile advertisers that are attending the event, many of whom have showed interest in our model!
Coming from the sales team, this whole event has been a great experience. It's really nice to get a chance to interact with bloggers, as we typically only get to converse with advertisers. Its awesome to get to meet the people that deliver the REAL value for our advertisers, and thank them for all of their hard work!
Our girlfriends, pictured below, are also attending the event!
The best part of the show thus far has to have been meeting Elizabeth from Table4five. I absolutely loved her passion and enthusiasm for PPP and our advertisers. We spent quite some time talking about her favorite opps, disclosure, the community, and some changes she would like to see. It truly was refreshing to meet such a wonderful person!
Link your Facebook account to your PayPerPost account and start making more money! Watch how easy it is to add the application to your profile and get your friends involved.
Once a Postie has submitted and had their blog approved, they can begin taking PayPerPost Opportunities through the Marketplace.
Here is what you will need to do, step by step! 1. Log into your account and click on the Open Opportunities tab, at the top of your account.
2. This page will show you all the Opps currently out in the system, to see the ones your blog qualifies for, click the blue Qualified Opportunities button.
3. The next page will show you Opps that suit your blog based on categories, your PR, and tack ratings. Click on the title of an Opp that interest you.
4. The next page will show you the Opportunity Details, which will tell you what the Advertiser is asking you to write about. If you like the Opp, click Take This Opportunity.
5. After you click the Take This Opportunity button, you have 6 hours to complete your post using the provided information. Once you have written your post and it is live in your blog, enter the URL for your post in the field provided. Make sure all criteria has been met and click Submit Post.
6. Your post is now up for review. Review typically takes 3-5 days. If it is rejected, you will be provided with the reason behind the rejection and how to fix it.
Crissy Kight of DearCrissy.com is a 27-year-old working professional by day, and mildly-eccentric artist and photographer by night. She has been keeping a digital diary online since 1995, well before the word ''blog'' became one of the most used words in the English language.
Crissy considers herself a ''self-constructing'' artist, a term she coined to describe her unique style, in which she incorporates personal journal texts and intimate self-portraiture within her paintings.
Whether Crissy is blogging about her most recent painting, about what she had for lunch, or about what her cat Mewson had for lunch, you'll find the content at DearCrissy.com delightful.

When did you join PayPerPost, and why?
I signed up for PayPerPost a couple of months ago, after hearing glowing reviews from a few of my blogging cohorts. It's true, I joined to make a little extra cash, but I've also found that the PayPerPost community is a great resource for bloggers to find support and even motivation.
Fill in the blank: The ____ is strong with this one.
Sarcasm.
If you could be any character from a movie, who would you be?
All of my favorite movies feature a main character who is utterly despondent for most of the film, so this is challenging. That said, I'm going to have to pick Charlotte from Lost in Translation. Hey, I'm already an English major, like to take stupid pictures of my feet, and have an affinity for Billy Murray, I'm at least there!
What is a 'eugugoly?'
It's what a eugugalizer delivers at funerals. Or did you think I’d be too stupid to know what a eugugalizer is?
Complete this thought: If I could blog for 24 hours non-stop I'd blog about ____.
It would probably have to be a detailed account of exactly how I ended up chained to my computer, because under normal circumstances I wouldn't blog about anything for 24 hours non-stop.
What is your favorite city?
I've visited a lot of nice places, but I’m going to have to say that my hometown, the city of Chillicothe, Ohio, is my favorite. When I was younger, I wanted to move someplace more exciting, but as I have grown up a little, I realize that this charming little city in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is home, and probably always will be. Of course, we have a paper mill in our town that makes the whole area smell worse than a pile of rotting corpses, but we like it 'cause it keeps strangers from comin’ round!
What's your favorite color?
Whatever combination of teal and blue it is that make up the color of my boyfriend’s eyes. Doesn’t that just make you want to gag?
What's your favorite video-sharing site?
I'm a YouTube.com girl from way back! My little videos used to be featured on the main page a lot in the summer of 2005, and I often chatted with Steve Chen about possible site enhancements. Look, threaded comments were my idea!
What's your favorite RockStartUp episode and why?
Definitely Episode 21; who doesn't love outtakes?
Complete this thought: I wish I could get paid to ____.
This question should read: “I wish I could make a living ____.” I mean, I wish I could get paid to sit on my sofa watching re-runs of VH1's “I love the 80's”. The fact is, I already get paid to do some of the things that I love, like painting, photography, and writing. I just wish that I could make a living doing those things.
Who's your favorite blogger?
While it's definitely not a unique choice, I am still compelled to read Heather Armstrong’s dooce.com every day. I think that Heather is really brilliant when it comes to transforming the little details of her daily life into absolutely entertaining blog entries. I also really love reading Jen of jayesel.net and Becca of dasbecca.com.
Complete this thought: When I was little I wanted to be ____ when I grew up.
The earliest memory I have of any career aspiration is that of working for Dairy Queen. I had it all planned out, you know? I figured that if it was my job to dish out ice cream all day, then the potential for sampling said ice cream all day was really limitless. Big dreams, I tell you.

I would like to share a little insight from Tim, one of the bloggers that attended our focus group this past weekend. Tim talked at length about his learning curve with PayPerPost and admitted to having what he called an "Opp Orgy". I know for a fact that Tim isn't the only one, Colleen and I spoke about her having the same experience on her radio show a few weeks ago.
What is an Opp Orgy? It's when a blogger takes as many paid Opps as they can a day everyday, with little regard to context. The result? A fatter wallet. But at what cost? You will wind up with an upset audience and poor advertiser ranking, meaning you will earn less per post. If you are new to PayPerPost, or think you may be experiencing a Blog Orgy right now step back, breathe and ask yourself if the post is truly relevant to your blog and your audience.
Ok, so maybe the title of this post could be worded a little better. Today I received a mysterious package. When Jenni handed me this small box I almost dropped it because it didn't look like it was going to be nearly as heavy as it was. I looked at the top of the box and observed that it was shipped from my good friend Mr. Fabulous.
Mr. Fab was here this past weekend for our Argus focus group and was an incredible contributor. Not only did he make me laugh my butt off, he had some great insights to share that will help us shape the platform in the future.
So what was in this mysterious box? It was about 20 lbs of homemade fudge! 2 Layers of chocolate with no nuts, 2 layers of chocolate with nuts and 3 layers of peanut butter fudge. It is one hell of a lot of food... enough for the whole team.
He even included a card which read:
"Ted & Co. - Thanks for the tour and the lunch and the opportunity to get a sneak peak at Argus. Hope this fudge doesn't put a crimp in y'alls plan to lose weight."
Well it certainly isn't going to help us lose weight, thanks for sure.
We absolutely love when we get care packages like this. Thank you so much Mr. Fab! You are awesome.
What does the latest Lindsay Lohan scandal have to do with the traffic on your blog? Read below to find out. I am often asked by bloggers how they can increase traffic to their blog. There are hundreds of ways to do so, ranging from the massively complex to the extremely simple. Today I would like to share a method that is so simple every single one of you can utilize the technique if you want to. Try this: 1. Go to Technorati.com and look at the tags on the homepage. 2. Pick one of the topics from the list that makes sense for your blog.
Let's say I write about entertainment. I am going to pick Lindsay Lohan.
3. Write your post about the topic you have chosen. Make sure to include the topic in your blog title and a few times in the body of the post. Also make sure that you include the topic (in this case "lindsay lohan" and variations of the topic such as "lindsay" in your tags.
4. Publish your post and see what happens. Chances are you will see some free traffic via the various blog search engines from people looking for information about that topic.
Obviously, this technique is not rocket science. Technorati is telling us what's hot. If you create content on hot topics your likelihood of getting exposure for your post is greatly increased. This isn't SEO, it SMO (Social Media Optimization), SMO is time sensitive... what's hot today may or may not be hot tomorrow.
The key is to make the content relevant to your blog. For this blog post I picked a topic that is not relevant simply for demonstration purposes. A more fitting topic would have been "web 2.0". If the topic isn't relative you will see a quick increase in traffic short term but those people won't be back in the future. Keep it on topic. If you write about knitting don't write about Paris Hilton just because Paris Hilton is on the list.
I will let you know what kind of traffic this blog sees from our topic Lindsay Lohan. If you have success with this technique let me know. Here is a quick sample of what happened in the past month from me mentioning "iPhone".
Granted, this isn't a huge amount of traffic. But the effort on our end was minimal and it was a topic that I enjoyed. The average person who found our blog via iPhone search terms was on our site for 4m53s. Free traffic...I'll take it : )
Advertisers you can use this technique too. Is there a way you can correlate your product, service or site with a hot topic? If son build that into your Opportunity and watch your traffic soar.
