Blog Battle Royale IV (Charity Edition) Champion
blog_battle_royale

The Blog Battle Royale IV Champion has been determined, and it is the owner of Besenjimom.com.  The post she submitted for the contest is:  http://www.basenjimom.com/2008/02/19/blog-battle-royale-pancreatic-cancer-awareness/.

The all-around awareness raised for Pancreatic Cancer, coupled with this blogger's recent experience of loss of her mother to the disease, were the determining factors in being named the Champion.  If you have a few moments visit her blog and click on the "Pancreatic Cancer" category to read about her contribution to this cause.

We'll be working with this blogger in contributing $1,000 to the charity she supports!  Please join me in offering-up congratulations.

Reminder: submit your charity post

Just a reminder that if you plan on submitting a post for round four of Blog Battle Royale, the "charity edition," it is due by 6pm EST this coming Monday (2/25).  We've already received a couple of good ones, and I know of several others that are "in the works." This is a great opportunity to show others if you use your blog to champion for a specific cause, and to get others involved in your cause as well.

Not just another charity case

Just over a month ago we posted about our intention to get more involved with charity initiatives. And actually, Guest Blogger Skeet's post this past Friday was just the kick in the pants I needed to get things going.

The last Blog Battle Royale contest finished-up in January. It's been quiet on that front since, as we've been trying to think of some ways to reinvigorate the program, and make it more interesting and appealing to a larger audience. So here's what we've decided to do...and I truly hope our bloggers and advertisers will find it worthwhile.

Several months ago we published a post about Postie Drew and his use of his blog to support a specific cause. This really got me to thinking about other bloggers who utilize their blog for charity or support causes they believe in. It also seemed many Posties responded to donating to Habitat for Humanity over the holidays. So given that we'd like to kickoff the next round of Blog Battle Royale with a "charity twist," and want you all to get involved.

If you currently use or have ever used your blog to support a cause, or promote a cause or organization you believe in, craft and publish a post about it, and share it with us by leaving the post link in the comments field. The blog doesn't need to solely exist to support charity, but it should have at some point been active in supporting a cause. And please note the cause should be not-for-profit. In your post, tell us how exactly how you've used your blog, and any successes and/or accomplishment as a result. As always, the more creative the post the better response it will get, and the winning blog will ultimately be determined based on creativity and interest.

If you intend to participate in this round of Blog Battle Royale, please have your post submitted no later than next Monday, February 25 at 6pm EST. That's a full week and weekend to think about how you want to approach your post.

At this time five (3) finalists will be selected by myself, Karen, and Glennis -- the IZEA "Charity team -- and then a Finalist will be determined. The Champion will have $1,000 donated in their name, to their cause by IZEA.

Any questions? Feel free to leave them here in the comments section. We look forward to your involvement.

Blog Battle Royale III Champion Voting Begins
blog_battle_royale

5...4...3...2...1... The countdown has commenced! Believe it or not round three of the Finalist voting for Blog Battle Royale is finally here (in leiu of a couple of challenges). All of the Finalists have received their iPod Touch and have had a chance to spend some time with it.

Their posts talking about their experience with the iTouch can be found listed below, in no particular order. If you would like to vote for your favorite you'll need to head over to the PayPerPost Boards. The links there correspond to the ones found on this post. If you're not registered on the boards you'll have to take a moment to do so, but it's well-worth your time. PLEASE read through all five posts, and vote based on the one you think truly deserves the title of Champion. I know it's easy to vote for someone simply because they're a friend, but all five bloggers put time and energy into their post, so they at least deserve a read.

FINALISTS:

1. Apple iPod Touch – An Epic Product Review
2. Perfection - The First Day of My Life With The iTouch
3. In The Land of Don’t Touch, Comes iTouch
4. My iPod Touch: It Ain’t No Walkman.
5. iGot my iPod!

iTouch image

Voting for this round will remain open through Friday, January 4, 2008 at 12pm EST. That's one week, and plenty of time to encourage your family, friends, and blog buddies to participate. Remember, voting should really be based on the creativity of the post, and how you feel the blog author presents their experience with the product.

Good luck, Finalists!

Another update for Blog Battle Royale III
blog_battle_royale

This contest is still alive-and-well! As I mentioned earlier in the week there was a slight mix-up with a couple of the shipments from Apple to the bloggers, but for the most part we've got things sorted out. One blogger is still waiting to receive her iPod Touch replacement but it should be in her hands very shortly. Given that, our Blog Battle Royale III Finalists should have their posts to us by Friday, December 28th @ 12pm EST. You can either submit the posts here in the comments field, or you can e-mail them directly to me at ashley[at]izea[dot]com.

Our current Blog Battle Royale Champion has won both previous rounds, and this is soley because she has taken the time to be creative and think outside of the ''blogging box!'' So try to be clever with your posts -- let's make this a true ''battle.'' As a reminder here are the prizes at stake:

- Blog Battle Royale III Champion title
- customized brag badge to display on your blog and/or website
- badge here on the IZEA blog with a link back to your winning post
- a Blog Battle Royale Champion t-shirt with IZEA teammember signatures
- automatic inclusion in the next round of BBR
- and of course, your iTouch and $50 Subway card

Not a bad deal, huh? Good luck! And may the best blogger win.

Update on Blog Battle Royale III

Some of you may have been wondering what's going on with Blog Battle Royale III. The finalist voting round was originally scheduled to occur a couple of weeks ago at the beginning of December but, unfortunately, there was a little...well, challenge. Two of our finalists accidentally received iPod Classics instead of iTouches (mix-up with the order from Apple), so I've been working with them to have the Classics sent back and replaced with the correct item.

I've been in continuous contact with the finalists over the past couple of weeks, and they're standing-by with their review posts. Right now the iTouch replacements are [supposedly] in route to the two bloggers who received the Classics, and should be receiving them any day now. As soon as they get them I'll publish a new date to have the posts turned-in to me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that'll be sometime next week (before Christmas).

I apologize for any inconvenience, and truly appreciate our finalists being so patient while this situation is being rectified. (Hey, they're not complaining -- they got a $50 Subway gift card and a free iTouch!) Trust me...I've already had several phone calls with Apple!

Blog Battle Royale III Update

Update! Update! Update!

The Blog America Tour is over, PostieCon was a success, the BCA winners have been revealed, and I'm back in the office now to carry on things with the Blog Battle Royale extravaganza! Having said that, I have received the addresses and t-shirt sizes for the following:

- All Hail The Sammich Artist
- To to Incorporate Subway into a Hypnosis Session

I am, however, still in need of the information for these bloggers:

- Fresh Fit In West Virginia Means- Your Cottage Cheese Thighs Look Nice In Spandex.
- Diving Into My Own Sub

I apologize if you've already sent these to me. For some reason I haven't received them yet, but if you'll contact me directly at ashley[at]izea[dot]com I'll get things out immediately so you can start your review.

As a reminder, each of these folks receive an iPod Touch, a $50 gift card to Subway, and the potential of being named the third Champion (which comes along with a fantastic brag badge, courtesy of Marty).

Since the items just came in and you'll need some time to play around with them, let's make your review post due no later than Monday, November 26th at noon (EST). This will allow for the products to be shipped to you, and give you a little extra time since the Thanksgiving holiday is coming up.

And the finalists are...
blog_battle_royale

Submissions to Blog Battle Royale III closed this past Monday, at noon EDT. All posts have been reviewed--this time by the Customer Love team--and have been narrowed down to four (4) Finalists. Now remember, our current Champion gets an "automatic in" for this round, so that's a total of five.

The Finalists are (in no particular order):

- Fresh Fit In West Virginia Means- Your Cottage Cheese Thighs Look Nice In Spandex.
- To to Incorporate Subway into a Hypnosis Session
- Diving Into My Own Sub
- All Hail The Sammich Artist

As a reminder, each of these folks receive an iPod Touch, a $50 gift card to Subway, and the potential of being named the third Champion (which comes along with a fantastic brag badge, courtesy of Marty).

I'm still waiting on the iPods to be delivered to the office but as soon as they are I'll send them out. Given that, please e-mail me directly at Ashley[at]PayPerPost[dot]com with your mailing information (no PO Boxes), as well as your t-shirt size. To give enough time for your items to reach you, and for you publish your post on the product review, final posts are due Wednesday, November 14th by noon (EDT); you can send them to me via e-mail, or post them here. If for some reason the items don't reach the Finalists by then, we'll make accommodations.

Congratulations to our Finalists! Thanks for participating. Stay tuned for updates....

Blog Battle Royale III

blog_battle_royale

I never thought it would happen in a million years, but Courtney has taken the title of Blog Battle Royale Champion twice in a row. She did a fantastic job with her Roomba review and the review of the Dell Photo 926. She has now grabbed a new Roomba robot vacuum and a new printer, not to mention the fact that she automically gets the next product to review for Blog Battle Royale III (which is awesome). Will she make it three in a row? Only time will tell.

If you are not familiar with the Blog Battle Royale here is how it works (there are some slight changes here):
1. Write a blog posting about the subject below.
2. Post the URL to that blog posting in the comments or in the trackback of this post by next Monday at noon EST.
3. Four finalists will be chosen from all the submissions by Customer Love.
4. The four finalists will then receive a physical product to review and keep. The finalists will also receive a limited edition Blog Battle Royale T-Shirt.

Blog Battle Royale t-shirts

5. The winner will be chosen by popular vote on our blog. The winner gets a special champion t-shirt, a badge for their blog and a badge on our blog promoting them as the winner. They also get a buy into the finalist round for the next Battle meaning they get a free product to review in Blog Battle Royale IV.

This months qualifier blog topic is the Subway Fresh Fit site. The site is hilariousness. I love the commercials and wasn't even aware that they had a special site that went along with them. I would like the Badonkadunk Butt please.

subway

What did you order? Are you tired of how nasty fast food burgers makes you feel? Do you eat at Subway? If so what do you get? We have a Subway right down the block and I get the same thing at least once a week:

- 12" Sweet Onion Teriyaki Chicken on Wheat
- American Cheese
- Tomatoes
- Banana Peppers
- Oatmeal cookies (only if I was good and went for a run that day)
- Lemonade (only 5 calories!)

Feel free to talk about this special site or Subway in general. I am just giving you some ideas. If you are a Subway fan show your colors. In high school I ate my fair share of Subway meatball subs. Maybe we can share one on my way to Vegas!

I want to see one of you chowing on a 6ft sub. That wouldn't really jive with the whole fresh fit thing, but it would be funny.

Now... how about the physical product review? Check this out... if you make it to the final 4 not only do you get a $50 Subway Card, you also get a brand new iPod Touch. You'll be eating your turkey sub while watching the latest episode of RockStartup. Freakin' awesome.

I wish you all luck. This a fun topic with a fantastic prize. Courtney has enough t-shirts... somebody needs to step up and be crowned the new champion. Where's Cass... Chad W. Smith.... Colleenie Weenie.... Techie... Jules... Marcus....???!?!? I need some old school guns to step up to the plate.

UPDATE: Blog Battle Royale II Finalist Voting

Don't Be Afraid

blog_battle_royale

We've had some great entries come in for Blog Battle Royale II but I think many of you have been afraid to enter because you think you don't have enough traffic to win. This competition isn't about traffic, its about quality and creativity. Courtney, winner of Blog Battle Royale I doesn't necessarily have a ton of traffic. What she does have is the ability to write a great post. As she says:

"It's not about being popular, it's not about having the readership, if your work is good, it will shine among the other entries."

I agree Courtney, well said. In fact, if I was a lesser known blogger I would see this as the perfect chance to put myself on the map and grab some new readers. The odds of getting into the finals are pretty good as of today. You have a better than 1/15 chance of grabbing one of 5 new printers. So what are you waiting for? Go check it out and make your post.
