As we've been mentioning on our Twitter profile all this past week, two of our Posties visited the IZEA office this past Friday afternoon. They were excited to see our new offices, meet the IZEA team in person, and catch a sneek peek of the next episode of RockStartUp (this was a surprise for them).
Now what Postie Alli and Postie Courtney didn't know was that I had an hour-long scavenger hunt around downtown Orlando planned for them. It all ended-up with Ted getting covered in silly string! Good for me I knew both of the Posties--and Ted--would be perfectly willing.
So I recruited some of my colleagues to join-in on the "mission," and at 3:45 pm we hit the pavement. The teams were as follows:
Team Alli
Britt
Carri
David
Luke
Team Courtney
Ashley
Crystal
Marty
Veronique
(Jenni helped out as well, since I was one of the ones to help create the scavenger hunt clues)
Of course, Travis and Scott filmed everything. I'm sure the footage will show-up at some point!
I've created a photo album here with some of the pictures we took. You can also visit our Flickr profile for more.
How would you like to attend SXSW for free, hang with the IZEA crew, oh and be selected as the winner of the "shoeperstar" contest?

Register online for a chance to meet up with Jeremy Schoemaker of ShoeMoney and Ted Murphy of Izea at SXSW in Austin, Texas on camera for a special episode of RockStartup. One lucky blogger will grab a free flight to Austin (within the continental US), 3 nights hotel, conference pass and $1,000 spending cash. All you need to do is register online and blog about why you should be selected as the ShoeperStar!
Three finalists will be selected by Jeremy and Ted by February 11th, 2008 based on the quality of the blog post (yes, it's subjective). Public voting between the three best posts will take place the week of February 18th with the winner selected at midnight easter on February 22, 2008. Airline travel allowance up to $500 for international bloggers. Hotel selected by Izea staff. We are not responsible for applicable taxes on prizes. Void where prohibited by law.
If you've been keeping us with us on the Blog America Tour then you know we've challenged all the Posties meeting-up with us along the way to bring canned food donations, which we'll be taking to local charities along our route. Well, our first two stops produced some pheonomenal results: Postie Colleen brought 100 cans with her to our Tampa meet-up last night, and Postie Alli brought 104 cans to Atlanta earlier today! (I think Alli secretly wanted to beat her friend Colleen!) This is awesome, and we couldn't wait to take the donations to the Atlanta Community Food Bank today.
The folks at the food bank were very grateful for the donations we dropped-off, and prior to leaving we took some photos of the location:

For those Bloggers planning to join-up with us along the rest of the tour, keep on bringing the donations! We'll provide updates here on the blog.

Update! Update! For those following us on the upcoming Blog America Tour, we've made a slight change in the driving route. We are no longer stopping through Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and are adding New Orleans to our list of stops.
Do you live in-or-around the New Orleans area? If so, we'd love to meet-up with you. We plan on being at the historic Jackson Square at 7:00pm (Central). The location information is as follows:
Saturday, November 3rd
City: New Orleans (LA)
Venue: Jackson Square
Location: 751 Decatur St. (Map)
Time: 7:00pm CDT
We'll look forward to seeing everyone on all our stops. If you can't make it out or we're not coming to a city near you, you can keep up with us here on the blog. We'll be posting frequent updates, as well as Twittering our trip.

Congratulations to the top voted video for Ross the intern & Rosie.
Ross Mathews, intern for Jay Leno's Tonight Show, and Rosie O'Donnell are both in the top 3 site for the Celebrity Blog Category in the Blogger's Choice Awards!
We got some help from our Posties to recruit them! The mission was to give Ross & Rosie their best pitch on why they should attend PostieCon and the BCA's party at Tao Las Vegas. After the top videos were selected and posted on the blog our viewers voted on the best one. Congratulations to "The MC" for being the top voted video. We hope to see you Ross and Rosie in Vegas!
The Sewing Mom's blog: http://sewingmom.com
As planned, the 2007 Blogger's Choice Awards winners where selected last Friday, Oct. 19 at midnight. The actual winners will be revealed at the BCA VIP Party at Tao in Las Vegas on Nov. 10.
You may have noticed that the BCA site was continuing to accept votes over the weekend, even though voting had officially ended. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Later this morning the 2007 top 3 nominees in each category will be posted on the site for all to see. In addition, all votes will be zeroed out and 2008 voting will officially begin. These changes should have happened in unison at midnight on Oct. 19, but we ran into some issues that prevented that from happening.
It's important for everyone to understand that the official 2007 winners were selected at midnight on Oct. 19 as planned. Any and all voting over the weekend will not impact these results.
Great news! Ross Mathews, intern for Jay Leno's Tonight Show, and Rosie O'Donnell are both in the top 3 site for the Celebrity Blog Category in the Blogger's Choice Awards!
Now we need some help from the Posties to recruit them! Your mission is to give Ross & Rosie your best pitch on why they should attend PostieCon and the BCA's party at Tao Las Vegas.
Some topics to consider:
- Perhaps you are coming and would like to meet the highest voted celebrity bloggers online today?
- Maybe your blog has been nominated within a top 3?
- Perhaps you would like to discuss blogging with Ross over a PPP yummy postini?
- Or is it you want to see them both on stage announcing the 2007 BCA winners?
Whatever your reasons, we think they would love to hear them! Remember, Rosie and Ross may see all these videos, so the better they are the more chances you have to fall into top 10 videos.
Let's do a little brainstorming, shall we? Here are a few ideas to get those creative juices bubbling and to help you get started:
- Puppets. Who doesn't like puppets? They're cheesy, funny, and can be made out of a paper bag or a sock.
- Rhyming. Why not write a ballad to Ross and Rosie about coming to PostieCon? You can act out your song, make it silly, and have fun with it. Let's have fun people :)
- Be a fan. How about a skit where you pretend to be Ross and Rosie's biggest fan! You can gush about the chance to meet them, having fun in PostieCon, and talk about how you can't complete each day without catching up on the latest news on their blog!
- Dress Up. Wouldn't it be fun to run into your closet and pull out that fancy dress or suit you only wore once? Dust it off and act like you're getting ready to be either Ross and/or Rosie's date to PostieCon. Talk about what you'll do when you're in Vegas, how fun PostieCon will be, and how proud you'll be when they win their coveted Best Celebrity Blogger award.
- Be famous. Pretend you're a celebrity - how about dressing like Britney Spears, Cher, John Travolta, or Arnold Schwarzenegger and lament not having been nominated for this awesome award and how you wish you could go. Talk about how Ross and Rosie should go and what they'll be missing out on if they don't!
1. Visit: www.postiecon.com and www.bloggerschoiceawards.com To learn more about the event.
2. Create a 30 second or less video that creatively recruits Ross and Rosie. The video should tell everyone why they should attend, and what they will be missing if they don't.
3. Focus on all that is surrounding PostieCon and the BCA Awards and how it will benefit all those who have voted for them on the BCA site.
6. Upload and email us your video at www.transferbigfiles.com - select your video and email it to postiecon(at)postiecon(dot)com. Videos specs are a .mpg/320x240/30 seconds or less. Rockstartup.com will be doing something special with them but it's a secret for now.
7. Deadline is October 17, 2007, by noon EST.
8. The 10 best videos will be selected by PPP and posted on our blog on October 18, 2007, for voting to determine who created the absolute BEST video.
9. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 by 6pm EST. He or she will win the ultimate bragging rights to carry into PostieCon!
Over the past 8 months, more than 200,000 votes have been cast for over 11,000 nominated blogs from 80,000+ users, making the Blogger's Choice Award's the largest fan-based blog contest on the Internet.
On Oct. 8, you will notice a change to the site. The vote count will be removed from view for the top 3 vote getters in each category. This will minimize the "runaway winner" factor and keep the votes coming in. If this change affects your blog, rest assured your votes are still being calculated.
Selection of the 2007 BCA winners will happen soon after, as all 2007 voting will end on Friday, Oct. 19. and the winners in each category will be determined. The results will be revealed on Saturday night, Nov. 10 at the BCA VIP Party at Tao in Las Vegas. It's a hot ticket, and the only way to get in is to register for PostieCon.
On Oct. 20, voting for the 2008 BCA's will begin. At this time all 2007 votes will be removed and all nominated blogs go back to zero. That's right, it's back to the starting gate. Also, all 2007 nominated blogs are automatically nominated for 2008 voting. You do NOT need to re-nominate your blog.
Please note, all BCA nomination badges will continue to work as usual. Be sure to keep them in place so your visitors can help you win in 2008.
Ted said, "I want to meet as many Posties as possible on my way to PostieCon - make it happen." So the marketing team got together and decided to create an Opportunity for Posties to cover each tour stop. Wow! What a concept. If that idea was a snake it would have bit us.
As a result, PayPerPost is offering to pay Posties $45 for covering the event stops in each city. Additionally, Posties at each stop will have the chance to win an iRobot. The iRobot goes to the Postie that brings the most canned food items to that event stop. All donations will then be delivered to a local food bank or shelter. It's nice to work a good deed into the plan... Ted's idea.
As part of the deal, PayPerPost will accept up to 10 Posties for each of the 9 tour stop cities, 90 slots total. That's more than $4000 in payouts. Nothing like this has ever been done before. Well, okay, it has. We just did something similar for CollegeFEST. But, it worked so well we decided to do it again. Turns out, this is the perfect way for PayPerPost to demonstrate the value of its network and the Posties that power it.
At each event you'll get the chance to speak with Ted, get an exclusive introduction to Argus, and help out a worthy cause with your canned food donation. And, as usual, Ted will have some other tricks up his sleeve... all good blog post material. It will be a blast and you'll get paid!
All active Posties qualify for this Opportunity. If you live near these cities, apply for the $45 BAT Opportunity by email at blogtour [at] payperpost dot com. Please include the following:
- Event City (see below)
- Your full name
- Daytime phone and
- PayPerPost user name.
NOTE: Deadline for submission is Oct. 19. All selected Posties will be notified on Oct. 22 and given specific details on exact event location and times. Selections are on a first come, first served basis. So don't wait! Once a city reaches 10 Posties, it's closed.
The $45 BAT Opp includes the following cities:
- Orlando, FL - Nov. 1
- Tampa, FL - Nov. 1
- Atlanta, GA - Nov. 2
- Tuscaloosa, AL (Alabama v. LSU) - Nov. 3
- Jackson, MS - Nov. 4
- Little Rock, AR - Nov. 4
- Dallas, TX - Nov. 5
- Albuquerque, NM - Nov. 6
- Phoenix, AZ - Nov. 6
The Tour will end in Las Vegas on Nov. 7, but we have other plans for that destination... if you haven't already heard, it's called PostieCon on Nov. 10. It's shaping up to be an awesome event, including a special VIP Blogger's Choice Award party at Tao nightclub. If you haven't registered yet, get on it. Time is running out.
So that's, that. What are you waiting for? You need to jump all over this fun and exciting opportunity! See you on the road.

Now that you know where we’re planning to stop, we need you to give us some local knowledge. Comment on this post with your suggestions about where to go and what to do in each city. We’d love to meet up with as many Posties as possible. But we need to know you’re out there.
We’re still putting our plan together, so it’s a great time to influence what we will do in your town. As soon as we nail down a final tour schedule we’ll be sure to let everyone know.
We’d also like to let Posties hitch-a-ride to PostieCon, but we’re still trying to figure out the details… legal and insurance wise. However, if you’d like to jump on we want to hear from you. Send your request to britt [at] payperpost dot com. Include your name, location and a phone number. No guarantees.
See you on the road!
Live music, hanging with celebrities, pictures with the Playboy Bunnies… all in a days work, right? PayPerPost wants to give you an all-access Media Pass to cover CollegeFEST in Boston on Sept. 22-23. This is a tremendous opportunity to promote your blog and have a blast doing it! And by the way, there’s $500 in it for you courtesy of PayPerPost.
Show the world what it means to blog like a rockstar. Apply by email to britt [at] payperpost dot com. Please include your name, phone number, PPP user name and blog URL. Already approved Posties only. When selected, you’ll get full media credentials for the event. The rest is up to you. There are a few Opp requirements, but nothing you can't handle. You're a rockstar, remember. Deadline for consideration is Tues., Sept 20. So, apply now!
PayPerPost has a booth at CollegeFEST that you can use as home base. As part of the gig, you’ll also get featured in a RockStartUp episode and in the Oct. Advertiser TACK.
You don't want to miss this unique opportunity.
If you haven't already noticed the banner ad above, PayPerPost will be attending BlogOrlando on Sept. 27-29 at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. We're also a corporate sponsor and encourage anyone interested in attending this FREE event to register here. Not only is it free, but you get an event t-shirt (PayPerPost logo included) as a bonus.
BlogOrlando is a grassroots event. No companies doing hard-sell promotions; only serious bloggers and industry veterans sharing their ideas, concerns and predictions for the future of social media.
Shel Israel, CA - Global Neighbourhoods, will be the keynote speaker. Shel recently conducted a 10 week global survey of the state of social media on behalf of enterprise software giant SAP. There should be some great insights shared during his talk. Session tracks include Marketing, Media and Technology... something for everybody.
On Saturday, there is an organized group outing to EPCOT. You'll need to buy your own park admission, but it should be worth the money. It's Food & Wine Fest at EPCOT, so you can talk a little bloggin', drink a little wine and sample foods from around the world. Now that's my kind of social network.
Please note, register only if you know you can attend, as event organizers need an accurate count to make things go off without a hitch.
See you there!

Team Captains needed! Recruit a team and raise funds for this worthy cause!
The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, this inspiring event calls on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer's! Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $225 million and we want them to surpass all goals for 2007!
Alzheimer's has in fact affected a few of our families here at PayPerPost. One in particular staff member is Carri from the Customer Love Team. Carri’s grandmother has been diagnosed with the disease. The impact it has had on her but her family is tremendous. It was very touching to me as my great Aunt had Alzheimer’s. Here is what Carri had to say:
"We still stand. All of us, together, but we are not the same. Alzheimer’s has changed us all. It has taken something pure from us and replaced it with darkness and sharpness, insensibility and endless bureaucracy. It can’t, it won’t destroy us, but it has left its mark. A twisted, jagged scar that will never fully heal".
Please grab this opportunity to help Alzheimer’s Association spread the word that Memory Walk Team Captains are needed, nationwide, NOW! Be sure to encourage your readers to sign up early to ensure enough time to recruit a team and raise funds for this worthy cause!
Posties who sign up as a Team Captain and build a team may be selected through PPP Direct to blog about their ongoing Memory Walk Team Captain experience! Are you passionate about the cause? Can you raise a minimum of $200 (it’s so easy, if you have at least 10 people on a team, that’s only $20 per person! Just have at least 9 friends, family or coworkers join your team!)
Here at PayPerPost we are even building a local team for the Orlando walk on October 6th. Check out how easy it was for Karen to sign up as our Team Captain and build our fundraising page at the Memory Walk website: http://mworlando.kintera.org/payperpost
Robb has signed up as a Team Captain in New York for October 21st and two Posties have already created teams that you can locate through their blog posts:
Do it for someone you love
Please join me in Orlando
Other Posties have even decided to sponsor PayPerPost Postie Memory Walkers:
